Choosing one that actually delivers on a real Tuesday afternoon takes a bit more digging, and a handful of simple checks will steer you clear of the disappointing ones.
Read the beach, not just the villa
A villa can be flawless while the beach in front of it is not. Some stretches of sand vanish completely at high tide, and others collect seaweed or boat traffic that never shows up in a marketing shot. Because the shape of a beach shifts with the tides, weather and season, it pays to look up the specific stretch of coast rather than trusting the villa's own gallery. A few minutes reading about the local shoreline tells you whether you'll be swimming off soft sand or picking your way over rock at low water.
Search the villa's location on a map with the satellite view on. You'll quickly see whether it's truly on the beach, tucked behind a road, or perched on a headland with a long walk down.
Match the layout to your group
Bedroom counts are the loudest number in a listing, but layout matters more. Two bedrooms that share a wall suit a couple travelling together far less than two that sit at opposite ends of the villa. Check whether bathrooms are ensuite, whether the pool is fenced if you've got kids, and whether the living space is open to the elements. An open-air lounge is glorious in dry season and buggy in the rain.
Look hard at the kitchen too. "Fully equipped" can mean a proper stove or a single hotplate and a kettle, and that gap decides whether you cook or eat out every night.
Vet the host and the fine print
The best signal of a good stay is a responsive host. Send a specific question before booking and see how they answer. Vague or slow replies now become no-shows when the aircon breaks later. Scan the reviews for repeated words, since one mention of "noisy road" is chance and three is a pattern.
Finally, read the deposit and cancellation terms in full. A refundable deposit of $100 to $300 is normal, but you want to know how it's returned and how long that takes. Get these basics right and your beachfront villa will feel like the photos promised, only better, because it's real.
